Timing really can be everything when hunting for shark teeth. After a big storm (hello, hurricane season) is a great time to go out and look for these tiny treasures. If you’re going out after a big storm, just make sure it’s safe before you head to the beach. Generally low tide is the best time to hunt for shark teeth. Those aren’t fangs. They are the front incisors of a varmint such as a marmot. Other animals such as beavers, squirrels, chipmunks, etc have a similar lower jaw. Those long lower teeth continue to grow, and are continually gnawed down as the animal eats. You can probably slide that tooth out, its amazing how far back into the jaw they grow.
